Estimator

We are seeking a motivated individual whose work ethic aligns with DECOs Core Values; Integrity, Team-First Mentality, Professionalism, Safety, Continuous Improvement, and 100% Effort. As an estimator, you will interpret and analyze contract documents regarding terms, specifications, and requirements to compile budgets and put together complete and accurate bid packages as both a prime and subcontractor with values ranging from $50k-$10M. Projects consist of Traffic Signals, Roadway Lighting, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).

Role and Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed take-offs and build out accurate and complete estimating sheets.

  • Read, interpret, and fully understand plans and specifications to identify and address any out-of-the-ordinary items or errors.

  • Create accurate budgets for labor with supporting documentation and reasoning.

  • Maintain relationships with vendors/subcontractors.

  • Request and evaluate material quotes to ensure all specifications will be met and all parts are calculated within budget.

  • Evaluate subcontractor quotes to ensure all project scopes are covered.

  • Manage and submit required bid documents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related curriculum.

  • Proficient in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Etc.).

  • Familiarity with unit price estimating and contracts.

  • Must be able to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.

  • Must be willing to research problems and create viable solutions.

Foreman

The Foreman provides the necessary planning, direction, control, and supervision of the field crew, in order to accomplish the requirements of all projects assigned, in the most efficient manner possible while assuring a high standard of quality. 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead construction crew to complete projects on schedule.

  • Required to pour concrete foundations, install underground conduit, pull wire, and install traffic signal poles and/or street light poles with luminaires.

  • Must be able to operate mini excavator, bucket truck, and pole truck.

  • Delegate daily work to crew members and supervise crew members on assignments.

  • Ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations.

  • Prepare field reporting, including daily foreman’s reports, safety reports, time cards, etc.

  • Ensure all company policies are consistently followed by all personnel under their responsibility.

  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL preferred.

  • IMSA Level I & II preferred.

  • Must be able to operate a bucket truck, digger derrick, and mini excavator.

  • Must be able to read and understand construction plans.

  • Experience in crew management, good planning ability, and supervision skills.

Operator

The operator is the crew member with a Class A CDL and the ability to operate a mini excavator. This person will also learn controller cabinets for traffic signals and lighting projects.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Drive a 1-ton truck pulling a trailer with a mini excavator.

  • Install conduit and junction boxes utilizing a mini excavator.

  • Work with a crew to install traffic signal pole foundations.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating a mini excavator.

  • Valid Class A driver’s license.

General Laborer

The crew member is how a person gets their start learning the industry.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Work with a crew to install traffic signals and/or street light poles with fixtures.

  • Learn new skills and take direction from a Foreman.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class driver’s license.

Traffic Signal Technician Level 1

Job Description: We are seeking semi-skilled candidates for the position of Traffic Signal Technician I to perform technical work in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal systems. This position will report directly to the Traffic Signal Tech II or Traffic Superintendent and will involve a variety of specialized tasks which will be reviewed while in progress as well as upon completion to ensure quality. Performance of emergency call duties is required.

  •  Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.

  • Maintain an effective working relationship with others.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 1-year experience in any traffic-related field (may be substituted by a combination of related skills such as electrical experience, working in the roadways requiring traffic control, programming time clocks, and/or working at heights in excess of 15 feet).

  • High School Diploma or GED (may be substituted by accredited vocational courses in electrical or construction fields).

  • IMSA Level I Certification in Traffic Signals or ability to obtain same within one (1) year of hire date.

  • Traffic Control Supervisor Certification or ability to obtain same within one (1) year of hire date.

  • Possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License with no more than 7 points.

  • Transportation is required to and from the office or Jobsite location.

  • Obtain a CDL-B Driver’s License within one (6) months of the hire date.

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Ability to distinguish the range of the color spectrum.

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.

Job/Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.

  • Must be able to work at heights over 15 feet

Traffic Signal Technician Level II

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled candidate for the position of Lead Traffic Signal Technician to perform technical work in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal systems. This position will report directly to the Superintendent or project manager and will involve a variety of specialized tasks which will be reviewed while in progress as well as upon completion to ensure quality. Performance of emergency call duties is required.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.

  • Maintain an effective working relationship with others.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 5-7 years experience in traffic signal installation ground up, programming controllers, and maintaining signal operation.

  • High School Diploma or GED (may be substituted by accredited vocational courses in electrical or construction fields).

  • Must have IMSA Level II or III Certification in Traffic Signals.

  • Traffic Control Supervisor Certification or ability to obtain same within one (1) year of hire date.

  • Possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License with no more than 7 points.

  • Obtain a CDL-B Driver’s License within six(6) months of the hire date.

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Ability to distinguish the range of the color spectrum.
